Istvan Cserven
Before moving to the United States Istvan enjoyed an extensive amateur dance career in his native Hungary while working as a math and German high school teacher.
He holds titles as a former Hungarian Standard Champion and three times Vice Hungarian 10 Dance Champion. He also was a member of the "National Champion Latin Formation Team", which was a finalist in the World and European Championships several times.
In the last 11 years he has been teaching competitive couples of all levels and ages. He coached the Hungarian Latin Youth Champions and several Formation Teams.
In his devotion to ballroom dancing Istvan also served as the vice president of the Hungarian Dance Sport Association for 2 years.
He joined the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in 1997, and has since become one of the most valuable assets of our team. Because of his extraordinary background and experience Istvan is now our teacher trainer who prepares all our staff members for their Fred Astaire teacher certification examinations. Both, his competitive as well as his social students, praise him for his extraordinary patience and his ability to make learning how to dance appear so easy and fun.
He recently was named Top Teacher at the Tri Star Fred Astaire Championships. Since residing in the US he added another qualification to his list of credentials: he is now an accomplished Licentiate of the U.S. Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (U.S.I.S.T.D).
Personal Quote: "I love to see people grow in all aspects of their life through developing their dance ability".
